The American dream is the belief that everyone in the US has the chance to be successful, happy and eventually get rich if they work hard enough. The movie with the title – „The Pursuit of Happyness“ has a lot of similarities with the so-called American dream. The main character of that movie is a young, hard-working man of color, who wants to achieve great things by selling a portable X-Ray machine. Things are not looking well for him, even though he is working really hard to achieve his goals. He fails a lot of times, but does not give up. He also has a son and a wife, which later leaves him as she is unhappy in the relationship. He doesn’t want to loss his son as well, so he stays with him. That means that he needs to fully take control of him, without help of his wife. While he is still chasing his dreams, he does some easy jobs just to get some money. Even though he is struggling, becomes homeless, he still doesn’t give up and eventually gets an unpaid internship at a big company, which would later allow him to live a peaceful and happy life.

He needed to sacrifice and loss a lot to come close to his dream. The movie should be a great example and motivation to never give up and always fight till the end. It doesn’t have to be the American dream, it can be the smallest goal or a dream, but we should never give up, even if we fail, even if we struggle. Later on it all might be worth it.
